It's been a while, but that doesn't mean we've been sitting on our hands...
This week: experimentation, schemes and the demise of Rabbit.
oulfis.space lives!
We've mentioned this hubzilla instance before, but oulfis has been busy continuing to tinker around with it and has managed to get it running again after it went a bit awry:
Vamp's Hubzilla schemes
Vamp has put together several new schemes you can use on Hubzilla to make things just a bit prettier. For a preview of what they look like and to get the code to try them out, head on over to Vamp's Redbasic Schemes on framagit.
rabbit goes bye-bye and leaves fans wondering how to watch shows with fandom friends
Not Federation related, but a key part of the fandom experience for many (just ask the Supernatural rewatchers from the Fandomnatural subreddit), Rabbit was suddenly closed down this summer. This has left many wondering what to use when it comes to doing watch parties with fandom pals online.
Head to #announcements-roundup channel on the distributed_fandom Discord and post about it before the end of Saturday. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this issue.

"I hit a major milestone -- I finally fixed the bug which had made all of oulfis.space non-functional for, um, months. It liiiives!!!"
There is a Trello board that you can visit to see what's happening with the development of the instance. oulfis has also been hard at work putting together a terms of service for the instance.Vamp's Hubzilla schemes

What happened to Rabbit? Well, after losing out to further VC funding in May-June, the service was shut down without any notice to users, with employees being let go the same day.
At the end of July, Rabbit entered into a relationship with KAST. KAST has a desktop app for Mac and Windows and appears to offer a similar experience to Rabbit.
